Shuhei Endo is known for his pioneering, avant-garde use of industrial materials – specifically corrugated steel – to create fluid structural forms. He obtained a Master’s Degree from Kyoto University of Art in 1986, and established Shuhei Endo Architect Institute in 1988. He has served as a professor at the Salzburg International Summer Academy and Kobe University Graduate School (2007–21). In 2003, he received the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award for New Artists, and in 2004, he received the Special Prize at the 9th Venice Biennale International Architecture Exhibition.
