Completion of the "Bamboo Rest Area" at Katsurazaka Chuo Community Garden

Katsurazaka School District Autonomous Federation (Hisashi Kuwahara) published an article on completion of the "Bamboo Rest Area" at Katsurazaka Chuo Community Garden.
"Joint Creation by Kyoto University, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and Kagoshima University. A bamboo bench and pergola (shade structure) were completed at the Katsurazaka Chuo Community Garden, which opened this past April, and an unveiling event was held on August 20.
This project grew out of meetings for the Katsurazaka Park Park-UP initiative and was carried out as a joint extracurricular program among the three universities listed above, as part of the design workshop "Patterns in Nature". A total of 20 participants—including 6 students from Kyoto University, 8 students from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, 3 students from Kagoshima University, and faculty members—worked together to design and build the rest area.
In designing the space, the goal was to create a place where garden users could sit down and take shelter from the sun between work
This collaborative effort between Katsurazaka residents and institutions such as Kyoto University serves as an example of practicing Kyoto City's vision of "Connect, Tie, and Intermingle" in a distinctively "Katsurazaka way," driven autonomously by local residents.
Visitors other than garden users are also welcome to use the space until 5:00 PM. Please feel free to drop by and relax while out for a stroll. "
